WYSTC business appointments kick off

The business end of the World Youth Student Travel Conference (WYSTC) in Manchester kicked off yesterday with the start of one-on-one business appointments.

Over 730 delegates undertook a round of speed-dating like appointments in which they seek to do business.

For many operators it is their annual chance to meet their international agents and cement relationships that have been set up over years of business. For others it is their chance to get their products into the faces of the big players such as STA Travel, Kilroy and Flight Centre.

CEO of Base Backpackers Nick Thomas said, “WYSTC is the only real forum in which you have all the right people in the same room at the same time. It is a perfect chance to catch up with existing partners while meeting many new ones”.

The first two days of the annual conference has been made up of seminars from business and thought leaders from across the world with the theme being Innovation in Youth Travel.

50 Australian operators have made the journey including many of the regional tourism operators such as Tourism South Australia, Tourism Queensland and Tourism Tasmania. 4 companies are represented from New Zealand.
