Welcome to thUMBRELLA

You will notice some changes to Backpacker Trade News this week.

For a start, we’ve converted the newsletter to HTML rather than the old PDF version, so those of you using Blackberries will now be able to get all the latest industry news immediately, rather than having to wait until you get back to the office.

The old PDF version was a victim of the success of Backpacker Trade News, which has grown from humble beginnings in April 2008 to a whopping seven pages in recent weeks, making it impossible to keep the file down to a manageable size. Rather than having to wait for the PDF to download, now you can click straight through to the story that takes your interest.

When you do so you’ll land here, at our new interactive website Thumbrella.com.au, where you’ll find all the latest stories from the industry, as well as comment, analysis, and rich media including video posts and photos from industry events.

Instead of having to wait two weeks to see your views in print, now you can post comments instantly under the stories you wish to respond to. Please note the comments section is moderated, so libellous or offensive postings will be taken down.

That said, Thumbrella is a discussion of everything under the travel and hospitality umbrella and would be nothing without your input. Please tell us what you think – and get posting!

  10. Thank you Leslie.

We used to produce a PDF version of the newsletter which was printable, but it got too big and clunky.

If you want to subscribe to our RSS feeds you can do so at the top of the page.

    Thanks for the feedback.
