Sydney Airport officially opens upgraded international departures level

The upgrade of the international departures level of Sydney Airport was officially opened at a ceremony last week.

A new outbound hall for Australian Customs, more waiting areas, food, beverage and retail outlets for passengers and a new arrivals level baggage reclaim carousel for increased A380 capacity were some of the improvements made as part of the $500 million investment in the international terminal.

Sydney Airport CEO Russell Balding said $1.7 billion has been invested in the airports since 2002 with a further $1 billion planned in capital expenditure over the next five years.

“Our aim is to provide travellers with an enhanced travel experience. It is a strategically important investment that will leave visitors with a positive and lasting impression of Sydney,” he said.
