San Francisco Airport launches marketing campaign to lure travellers leaving Oz and NZ

San Francisco Airport (SFO) has launched a marketing campaign in Australia and New Zealand to make the hub the preferred airport for travellers from Oceania connecting into the U.S.

The campaign, “I Wanna Go Through SFO” includes outdoor advertising in Auckland, Sydney and Brisbane airports as well as tongue-in-cheek YouTube video. The airport has also partnered with Air New Zealand and Qantas Airways on a travel industry familiarisation program and a travel agent incentive contest.

“We have the largest international terminal in North America packed with restaurants, shops and spa services – along with the latest baggage screening technology and a Customs facility that can process 5,000 passports per hour,” said SFO deputy director Kandace Bender.

Qantas and United Airlines provide non-stop services between Sydney and San Francisco while Air New Zealand connects Auckland with the west coast city. Both Qantas and Air NZ also provide services from Brisbane through Sydney and Auckland respectively.
