Robin Wicks appointed new director general of WYSE Travel Confederation
Former chief operating officer Continental Europe for the InterContinental Hotels Group Robin Wicks has been appointed as the new director general of the World Youth Student and Educational (WYSE) Travel Confederation.
Following the announcement in February of David Jones’ departure, who lead the travel body for 15 years, Wicks has now commenced his new position in the Amsterdam head office.
“Travel is the world’s biggest industry, and the youth sector is probably the most exciting part. The Confederation is a wonderful organisation with great strengths and I plan to use those to ensure we take a strong leadership role in the industry and at the same time provide real value to our members. I look forward to working with all the membership across the world to make that happen” Wicks said.
As well as his role with InterContinental, Wicks has held positions with Global Holidays, Air Europe and 3R Hospitality Partners in which he most recently was director.
Wicks will be formally welcomed and Jones farewelled at this year’s World Youth and Student Travel Conference (WYSTC) in Beijing in October. More details of the conference can be found at www.wystc.org
