Bullshit is Carvella’s in Cairns the 4th best hostel in Australia – I can think of 100 hostels in Australia better than Carvellas!!!

hi kristy and keith . in 2008 we won best hostel in australia and we have less than 40 beds wake up sydney was second not sure how many reviews we had but this year we had more bookings from hostel world less great stuff less reviews and didnt make the top ten makes you wonder , good marketing welldone hostel world .

Thanks Keith. We also have awards for the best small hostels in the world. These properties must have less than 50 beds and recieve at least 100 reviews in the year.

Looks like a great outcome for the hostels concerned and congratulations to the Winners. Lots of my favorite hostels didn’t make the cut, due to not meeting the 200 minimum vote requirement. Well done to the winning hostels. Hostel world don’t forget the smaller players as they are the core of your business.

Just to clarify – The top hostels in Oceania and Australia were based on a minimum of 200 reviews being placed in 2009. The top large hostels worldwide needed to have a minimum of 500 beds and have had at least 300 reviews submitted in 2009. Properties have needed to work with us for at least 12 months before they are eligible for a Hoscar. Congratulations to all the winners!
