Greyhound launches free Emu Park detour

Greyhound Australia has begun operating a detour to Emu Park on its Brisbane to Cairns service.

Passengers on the route will be able to visit the gateway to Great Keppel Island by purchasing their ticket online at greyhound.com.au at no extra cost.

Chief Executive Officer Robert Thomas said the detour would help stimulate the local economy during peak season. He added: “A recent Tourism Australia survey found the majority of people on long-distance coaches were international tourists so this free optional trip will help our overseas visitors see even more of the Sunshine State.”

Thomas said it was previously difficult for international travellers to visit the small town due to limited public transport access.

“Despite its proximity to the popular backpacker trail along the state’s coastline, many travellers have missed out on the experience of Emu Park in the past and headed to the larger tourist hubs of Yeppoon and Airlie Beach,” he added.

  2. When will State governments who are missing out on Greyhound services wake up. The Sydney/ Melbourne east coast is hungry for their services. Why not follow the airlines on the open Skies polices with companies like Greyhound who are not allow to service the whole country. Victoria and others are going backwards without their services
