Ferguson acknowledges industry efforts

Federal tourism minister Martin Ferguson has individually congratulated the Australian recipients of this year’s Golden Backpack Awards by sending each a personalised letter.

Senior project officer for the Tourism Division of the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism, Tracie McAdam said each letter was personalised for the recipient but each highlighted the value of a high standard of business in the industry.

An excerpt from one of the letters reads: “This award plays an important role in demonstrating the diversity and quality of Australian tourism product…Such standards of excellence establish benchmarks for others to strive for and lead to enhanced standards of service delivery across the industry.”

The third annual Golden Backpack Awards took place at Doltone House in Sydney.
