Delta Air Lines to match Qantas with free alcohol

Delta Air Lines’ foray into the trans-Pacific market next month will now include a complimentary alcohol service, matching rival Qantas.

The Daily Telegraph today reported the airline will offer complimentary beer and wine to passengers in all classes making it the second airline on the route to do so after Qantas. V Australia and United Airways are reported to offer only one complimentary alcoholic beverage to passengers and then charge for subsequent drinks.

The paper said Delta’s current fares equal Qantas with a return flight in August for $883 including taxes.

Delta’s inaugural trans-Pacific flight departs Los Angeles for Sydney on July 1.
