Australian Tourism Award winners announced

The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards (QATA) were announced in Hobart on Friday night with some familiar backpacking industry names called up to accept recognition.

Following a successful 12 months for YHA with wins in the Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales state awards, its Sydney Central property took home the national gong in the backpacker accommodation category.

In the adventure tourism sector Cairns-based dive and sail company Passions Of Paradise was the winner while Connections Safaris in the Northern Territory received the best major tour and/or transport operator accolade.

QATA took place at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart.
